Hey rondezvousers!
While campaigning, there has been so much I’ve wanted to communicate about with you regarding non-campaign related events, but alas, campaigns + work + family = very little extra time.
Still, my busyness didn’t stop the march of madness from continuing.
From the gleeful feeding frenzy by our shell-of-a-local-media ecosystem related to Katie Wilson’s so-called gaffes, and their bald faced hypocrisy compared to how they covered her predecessor, to the MANY wins of the Wilson administration (universal school lunches when city councilors tried to kill it to undermine the Mayor! no more rental junk fees! launching the fix for one of the states busiest but slowest bus-lines! a huge win on a huge library levy! record months without murders! sending the voters the first ambitious transit levy in years!), to the latest Trump administration kidnapping tactics and what to do about them, or the amazing Mamdani/YIMBY fusion spreading around the country, and more—there is so much to catch up on.
I certainly won’t get to it all, but I’m looking forward to returning to my regularly scheduled programming of speaking up. The world might be maddening, but we can get the word out together.
In the meantime, I’m doing some relaxation and family time and ramping up my regular work to catch up on missed wages. I’m also dedicating any of my “free” volunteer time to some absolutely amazing grassroots stuff that is bubbling up, that has real game-changing potential. So please be patient with me.
Also, I want to say thank you so much for sticking with me for so long, and give you one fun update. I checked our “reads” last night and this little newsletter has been read 1,056,825 times!
And that excludes our pieces that were in other publications, including the Atlantic (yeah, they are way too centrist, but it was cool to get a national audience). Given that I’m about as low-key not famous as they come, this is pretty darn exciting to me. The me part is whatever. But getting the messages out - that makes me so happy.
That’s all for now.
I hope you enjoy these lovely dog days of summer. I am!
